Virtual Scouting – Beavers

Date: 15th May 2020 Author: Scout Websites

Throughout the time that COVID-19 has caused face-to-face scouting to be temporarily paused we have all taken to our computers to ensure that scouting doesn’t stop! So far we have taken part in badge work videos and Zoom calls to keep scouting going. In lieu of our planned Gruffalo Sleepover we took part in a ‘Virtual Camp’ whereby all of the children were asked to sleep somewhere other than their beds and join us on a Zoom call where we played Bingo, took part in a scavenger hunt and set some activities for the following day. The activities included a pioneering task, a necker flip challenge and an activity to show our gratitude to all of the amazing Key Workers and NHS staff who are keeping the country going during these unprecedented times.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
